Hiways was established in 1995 as one of the earliest partnership law firms in China.  Headquartered in Shanghai’s financial district, Lujiazue, Hiways is one of the largest law firms in the city with over 100 legal practitioners and a highly trained support staff that have served thousands of corporate clients over the past 20 years, earning numerous awards and honors.  Many of their lawyers have degrees from abroad; most have LLMs.  Half of the team have experience studying or working overseas.

The firm has been extremely important in Shanghai’s cultural reform and development, gaining a keen understanding of the changing policies in the sector of culture and media.  Among the cases they have handled in this area was Yao Ming’s acquisition of the Oriental Basketball Club.
