H-1B Cap Reaches Limit

Contact: Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC (Washington, USA)

On June 11, 2012 the USCIS announced it had reached the limit for the H-1b cap. The short amount of time it took to reach the cap was a surprise to many in the industry as well as the legal

community since last year the cap was not reached until November. This means that employers will need to plan further ahead for 2013 and prepare for the April 1, 2013 filing as it will likely take less than 9 weeks to reach the cap next year. We hope there will be some Congressional relief so we urge you to contact your congressional representatives and let them know that the low number of H-1b visas available is hurting your business.
