Profile: Guthrie McGruer, qualified in 1980 and joined Blake Lapthorn as a partner in 1999 following the merger with Abbott King & Troen. He began his career in local government working for several years in London before moving to private practice in 1988. Guthrie has wide experience of both contentious and non-contentious planning work including High Court Appeals, judicial review and local public inquiry work. He negotiates planning consents, drafts planning agreements and has broad experience in general property and development work. He has close contracts with several leading planning chambers in London and acts for a wide range of commercial clients. He also has broad experience of enforcement matters and is fully conversant with listed buildings and conservation areas. Guthrie has been a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 1994. He heads the Planning Group for the firm.
