Harris III, Richard H.
Partner
Richard is Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group. He has significant experience counseling clients in the areas of business succession planning, trust and estate administration, estate planning and charitable gift planning. Richard’s practice includes Medicaid planning for the elderly and estate planning for individuals with disabilities. He has represented numerous fiduciaries in the probate administration of estates ranging in size from $50 thousand to more than $50 million. Richard is also an experienced preparer of estate, gift and inheritance tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.

Richard is a board member and officer for the Greater Akron Musical Association (Akron Symphony). He is a member and former president of the Akron Tax and Estate Planning Council and serves as a Trust Advisor for the Mary and Dr. George L. Demetros Charitable Trust. Richard is also a member of the advisory council and former vice president of the board of trustees for Weathervane Community Playhouse; a member of the board of directors for Albrecht, Inc.; and former board member and officer of Planned Parenthood of Summit County. Richard is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Board of Governors (Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section) and the American Bar Association (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section). He is also a past president of the Akron Bar Association’s Probate Section.

Richard is a frequent author and presenter on estate planning and probate topics. He recently spoke on Family Limited Partnerships at a National Business Institute seminar and on Spousal Rights for the Akron Bar Association.
