Stephen A. Hester has a broad range of experience with all types of commercial litigation, business transactions and public finance.
Before joining Williams & Anderson in 2007, Mr. Hester practiced at Adams and Reese, LLP in Memphis, Tennessee where he focused on civil litigation.
Mr. Hester currently handles various transactional and general corporate matters, with an emphasis on public and municipal finance, banking, real estate, commercial contracts and purchasing agreements, confidentially and non-disclosure agreements, and product development agreements.
Mr. Hester also maintains an active litigation practice. He regularly represents banks and other financial institutions with regard to distressed assets. Mr. Hester has also been involved with other forms of commercial and tort litigation and has successfully defended lawsuits against hospitals, nursing homes, lawyers, architects and engineers. In addition, Mr. Hester has significant experience with bankruptcy, complex class action, securities, shareholder derivative, dissenters’ rights, director & officer, construction and antitrust litigation.
Mr. Hester completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Trial Skills Program in 2010.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND SERVICE
Mr. Hester is rated AV® Preeminent ™ by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in the area of Business Litigation.
He currently serves as one of the Arkansas Bar Association’s two Delegates to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates.
Mr. Hester is admitted to and regularly practices before all state and federal courts in Arkansas. He is also admitted to all state courts in Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eighth Circuits. He is a member of the American, Arkansas and Pulaski County Bar Associations.
Mr. Hester was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and graduated from The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee with an Honors Diploma.
Mr. Hester graduated cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in 1998. In his senior year Mr. Hester served as President of the Rhodes College Honor Council, President of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and President of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honorary Society.
In 2001, Mr. Hester received his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. During his legal education, Mr. Hester served as the Vice Chair of the Moot Court Board and was an officer of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.
Mr. Hester and his wife have two children and are active members of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
