Cutting-Edge Project and Cost Management Celebrate Five Years of Growth

Blake Morgan’s innovative Project and Cost Management offering are celebrating five years as part of the leading law firm this summer.

Back in 2018, Blake Morgan announced a new service as part of their built environment offering as they were the first law firm to integrate chartered surveyors with lawyers, truly working alongside each other to the benefit of their clients.

Phil Jardine, Partner and Head of the Property Services Group in Blake Morgan, commented:

“We were the first law firm in the UK to bring a team of project and cost managers into the heart of a law firm. We could see the obvious synergies between their work as chartered surveyors and that of the commercial property and construction lawyers at Blake Morgan. We all work in the same eco-system.

The lawyers and the surveyors increasingly work collaboratively, sharing their knowledge and expertise with each other, giving the client a better holistic, more-rounded overall service.

The Project and Cost Management team has doubled in size over the last five years and is making an impressive impact in the marketplace, securing places on many of the available frameworks in the local marketplace.

Project and Cost Management Director and Quantity Surveyor, James Gundy leads the team, which includes Alex Leighton, Alex McCusker, Mike Mahoney, Antony Catris, Tom Cotter and Colin Phillips. The team represents a very wide range of clients, including education, higher education, housing providers including Social Registered Landlords and Open Market sales, public sector government bodies and Private Developers.

Project Director and Quantity Surveyor, Alex Leighton, who works closely with Housing Association providers, commented:

"The residential market has seen the benefit of us offering both legal and Employer's Agent services simultaneously, as well as the cost and time benefits brought through the delivery of our services."

James Gundy added: “Projects large and small require the same attention to detail to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget, giving value for money to our clients.

“We have an ambition to develop both in size, and in geographical spread. Revenue streams have grown from zero five years ago, to an annual sum currently measured in seven figures and we are hoping to grow this further in the next few years.”
