Blake Morgan Partner wins 'Professional of the Year' at the Venus Awards National Finals

Blake Morgan partner Alison McClure has been awarded the prestigious title of ‘Professional of the Year’ at the 2018 Venus Awards National Finals on 12 July.

Held at the Audleys Wood Hotel, Basingstoke, the awards ceremony and gala lunch celebrates, recognises and rewards local businesswomen across the country. Described by Channel 4 as “The Working Women’s Oscars”, the Venus Awards aims to empower women to reach their professional potential. The ‘Professional of the Year’ category is awarded to inspirational women who have demonstrated success in the business community.

In November 2017, Alison was awarded the ‘Professional of the Year’ title for the Hampshire region and now she has been recognised on a national level by winning at the National Finals.

Alison McClure is a Partner and Divisional Director of Litigation and Dispute Resolution at Blake Morgan. The Litigation and Dispute resolution division employs 230 people and contributes approximately £22 million of the firm’s fee income.

Alison has been described by Legal 500 as “a formidable businesswoman” and was named an ‘Eminent Practitioner’ by Chambers and Partners in the 2018 guide. She has driven through key business transformation projects at Blake Morgan and enjoys a strong reputation amongst clients, competitor firms and the Bar. Her background as a health care litigation specialist has won her consistent recognition in the leading legal directories.

Speaking following her win, Alison said: “To be awarded ‘Professional of the Year’ is a real honour. The Venus Awards is an important event that promotes and celebrates the hard work of women in business. I am delighted and humbled to be recognised from so many incredible women at an awards ceremony that encourages gender diversity and empowerment.

“With only 18 per cent of senior positions in law firms held by women there is still a lot of work to do, however I hope the Venus Awards will inspire other women to reach their goals in the legal profession and the wider business community.”

Alison is committed to encouraging gender diversity in the workplace and supporting personal and professional development of her colleagues. Alison recently achieved accreditation as an Executive Business Coach as part of the Meyler Campbell Mastered Programme.

Blake Morgan has a genuine commitment to supporting women's careers and has a strong track record of women in partnership and senior management positions.
