Baerbel Schiller is a partner with Spencer Fane. Before joining Spencer Fane, Baerbel worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for 15 years and while with EPA held various positions including the position of Senior Associate Regional Counsel, RCRA Program Branch Chief, and Associate Division Director for Superfund Enforcement. At EPA Baerbel concentrated on representing the Agency in the negotiation and litigation of environmental cases arising under Superfund and RCRA as well as on the preparation of hazardous waste and superfund enforcement and settlement policies and policies regarding EPA and state relations. Baerbel also had a leading role in the formulation and implementation of EPA’s Superfund reforms. Baerbel completed her undergraduate and graduate work in English and Political Science at the University of Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany, received a Master's degree, summa cum laude, in foreign languages from the University of Nebraska, and a law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She is a member of the Information Network for Superfund Settlements and the American Bar Association sections on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law, and Litigation. Baerbel has represented individual clients across the country in cases arising under Superfund, RCRA, and state hazardous waste and voluntary clean up programs as well as under the Clean Water Act. She has spoken on Superfund, RCRA, and State/EPA relations to a variety of audiences.
