KV has nearly two decades of experience in litigation and arbitration and is involved in several prominent domestic and international contentious matters, including prominent white collar crime matters. He is a senior member of the firm’s white collar crime practice group. He regularly appears in important civil and criminal litigation matters before the courts and has obtained several landmark judgments.
Over the last few years, a major thrust of his practice has been infrastructure projects such as metro, rail, road and highways, airports, power projects, transmission, refineries, integrated townships, SEZs, malls, hotels and resorts, amongst others.
In respect of environment laws, he regularly advises clients on law, regulation and policy on hazardous wastes, hazardous chemicals, dangerous goods, hazardous micro-organisms, electronic wastes, medical wastes, bio-diversity laws, forest laws and various industry specific licensing, approval, reporting, mitigation, product recall and related aspects.
KV regularly advices clients from the pharmaceutical sector on a range of manufacturing, product approval, clinical trials, regulatory, product liability and other related aspects. He has considerable experience of advising clients in relation to law and policy on biological products, genetically modified organisms, seeds and food.
KV also has rich experience in the labour and employment domain. Over the years, he has advised clients on many contentious layoff, retrenchment and dismissal matters. He regularly advises clients in restructuring and optimizing their work force, including negotiating settlements where necessary with workers or their unions and on occasions assisting clients in framing appropriate schemes for voluntary severance packages, ESOPs, etc.
Since early 2007, KV has been authoring articles on various contemporary labor and employment issues and responding to queries in ‘Human Capital’, one of the prominent magazines in India dealing exclusively with HR management issues. His insightful articles in the said magazine have brought him recognition across the country as an expert in employment laws.
KV, along with his team, has authored the India chapter of the book International Environment Law – Practitioner’s Guide to the Laws of the Planet published by the American Bar Association, Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, in 2014. KV and his team also authored the Environment Law Reporter India Update which was published every quarter by the Environment Law Institute, Washington DC from 2009 to 2014. He also co-authors the India pages of EIATRACK, a website operated by IHS, which cater to the laws and regulations concerning the electronics industry.
