(Born Guatemala City, 1967). He obtained a law degree at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala in 1992 (cum laude) and a Master of Laws degree in Comparative Jurisprudence at New York University School of Law in 1994. He is licensed to practice law in Guatemala and in the New York State. Before co-founding Quiñones, Ibargüen & Luján, S.C. he first worked as a litigation associate in one of the most respected litigation law firms in Guatemala, and later as senior assocliate in charge of the international corporate department of another prestigious international practice law firm. Marcos Ibarguen Segovia has taught commercial obligations and contracts at Universidad Rafael Landivar and civil law and International Business Transactions at Universidad Francisco Marroquin. He is a board member of several entities in Guatemala and is an approved arbitrator by the Guatemalan Arbitration and Mediation Center (CENAC).  On September 2006, he was nominated by the Government of Guatemala, among other nominations, to be one of the 20 arbitrators of the DR-CAFTA Free Trade Agreement. His practice areas include Corporate Law, Secured Lending Transactions, Patent & Trademark Law, International Financings, International Business Transactions, Securities, Taxation, and Civil and Commercial Litigation and/or Arbitration.
