Douglas joined the firm in 1988 and specialises in all aspects of private client and related tax work.  He is experienced in advising UK and non-UK domiciliaries on tax planning and on the preparation of wills, trusts and related matters, as well as on probate work, involving the administration of substantial and complex estates, and a wide variety of Court of Protection work.  A great deal of Douglas’s work involves advice in relation to inheritance tax mitigation techniques, so as to make full use of the tax free allowances and reliefs, including the use of trusts and deeds of variation.  He also advises on the creation and re-organisation of a variety of UK and offshore tax mitigation structures.

Douglas contributed a chapter entitled ''The Use of UK Trusts for Holding and Dealing with Works of Art and Chattels'' to the first edition of the book by Alon Kaplan ''Trusts in Prime Jurisdictions''.
