Sharon Calhoun is a partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups.

For over a decade, Sharon has helped build and protect some of the world’s leading brands. Sharon combines her skill and experience as a trial attorney with her knowledge of intellectual property law to actively assist clients in identifying, protecting, valuing and preserving their intellectual property assets. The litigation side of Sharon’s practice involves resolving trademark and copyright infringement, false advertising, unfair competition, counterfeiting and cybersquatting disputes through a variety of means, including, negotiated settlements, litigation, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings and ICANN proceedings.

In addition to her experience with intellectual property litigation, Sharon also assists companies with global trademark portfolio management and the intellectual property aspects of commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions. She works with clients to increase the value of their intellectual property assets and to monetize their brands through various means including licensing programs, counsels clients on social media issues and conducts legal review of advertising and promotional materials.

Sharon is the Co-Chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee, and a member of the Pro Bono Committee with an active pro bono practice. In 2012, she returned from a 6-month leave of absence from her practice at Barack Ferrazzano after performing pro bono legal work in South Africa. Sharon was profiled in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin regarding her international pro bono work, and she is a guest blogger about her South African pro bono experience for the American Bar Association's Center for Pro Bono.
