 At present Jac is advising and representing:

  • A JSE listed entity in an application for merger approval by the Competition Commission.
  • A multinational corporation with the enquiry into the Special Defence Packages (the “Arms Deal Enquiry”).
  • South African National Accreditation Standards (SANAS) in disputes arising from various aspects arising from the SANAS Act.
  • The South African Revenue Service in litigation arising from losses suffered as a result of a national cheque fraud syndicate.
  • The Norwegian Government in an investigation into the structure and operation of funding in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • A Pharmaceutical company with a corporate restructure.

Jac is a litigation specialist and represents public and private (local and international) clients in high end litigation in the High Court, Appeal Court, and Constitutional Court and specialist tribunals.

He holds qualifications from the University of Stellenbosch, Wits and King’s College, London. His experience spans various sectors, including defence, construction, health, local and municipal government and tax.

Jac has represented constitutional bodies in precedent setting litigation, in the High Court and the Constitutional Court. Most recently he represented the Independent Police Investigative Directorate as well as the Inspector General of Intelligence in a series of widely published litigation.

Jac also represents public and private clients in complex regulatory and commercial arbitrations. Jac specializes in taking the lead in multifaceted litigation that reaches across more than one area of the law, including competition law.

He presents annual lectures on competition law at the University of Pretoria and is a regular author and speaker on regulatory matters.

Recent highlights include constitutional litigation on behalf of IPID (see details below) and representing the City of Cape Metropolitan Council in precedent setting litigation.
