Energy Specialty Group Report

The Energy Specialty Group has particularly focused on issues relating to oil and gas, both upstream and downstream activities.

The Energy Specialty Group has regularly held breakout sessions during the TAGLaw international conferences. In addition to discussing oil and gas during these sessions, issues relating to other energies, such as wind and solar energy, have been topics on the agendas.

The Group has members from many of the main oil producing jurisdictions, including Europe, the United States, South America, Asia and the Middle East.

Due to the typical multinational character of the oil and gas industry, the Group has exchanged views not only on legal issues, but also how to serve other member firms' clients when doing business in other jurisdictions.

McLeod "Punches Above its Weight"

The Financial Post (Canada) has ranked McLeod & Company LLP as #14 in the country as Issuer Legal Counsel in the Junior Oil & Gas sector. It is wonderful to have the firm and our Corporate Department recognized in a leading national newspaper.

Congratulations to Bill Walker the deal maker. Good work.

The lead-in to the article says, "Consolidation is the next step when market conditions limit growth.  Even now, lawyers report that activity among junior companies -- especially gas producers -- is high, as firms get defensive, jocky for position and look for ways to survive."  The headline, under "M&A" says "Juniors Poised for Mergers."
